How to approve job completion and release funds
After the cleaner finishes the bond clean, they upload photos and mark the job complete. You (or your property manager) check the property and approve so funds can be released to the cleaner.
What the cleaner does first
- Completes the clean to the agreed standard.
- Uploads before/after photos in the job.
- Marks the job as Complete in Bond Back.
You'll get a notification when the job is marked complete.
What you should do
- Inspect the property — Ideally on the same day or before your final handover. Use the before/after photos as a reference and check the areas that matter for your bond (kitchen, bathroom, floors, oven, etc.).
- Compare to the checklist — If your property manager gave you a bond cleaning checklist, use it. Approving means you're satisfied the clean meets what you agreed.
- Approve or raise an issue in Bond Back:
- Approve — Click Approve completion (or equivalent). The held funds are released to the cleaner (minus the Service Fee). The job is closed.
- Issue — If something is missing or not up to standard, don't approve yet. Use messages to ask the cleaner to fix specific items, or open a dispute if you can't resolve it.
When to approve
- Approve when you're happy that the clean meets the agreed scope and is suitable for your bond handover. You're not required to wait for the property manager's final inspection to approve in Bond Back, but many listers inspect first and then approve.
- Tip: Approving promptly helps cleaners get paid quickly. If you need a small touch-up, say so in messages and only approve after it's done.
If you don't approve
- Funds stay in escrow. You can message the cleaner to arrange touch-ups or open a dispute. See What happens if a dispute is opened? for how disputes work.
